The following video has created a major uproar on the internet in the last twenty-four hours as Atheist Nick Gisburne was banned for creating it. In responce many youtube folks have gone nuts copying and re-publishing the video all over the internet. The video itself is a fast paced nine minute listing of every instance of Cruelty in the Koran. Over at Digg Nation this story has been getting a great deal of attention, they are talking about a revolution to bring him back. Click Here To Join The Digg Avalanch. I will do my best to continue to have an embeded version of this video for as long as I can.

There is at this time a major question about if he was banned because of his views, or because of the use of copyrighted content. If it was the copyrighted material, the question then becomes why did they single him out, and not the ten thousand other people who also are using copyrighted material?

I bet he was banned because of his views. I don’t see why he should be – oh yeah, nobody is allowed to speak out against religion and to be offensive to religious people. I’m glad people are still able to see it, though.

I’m no atheist but I know an injustice when I see one. You alude to the fact that Nick Gisburne may have been banned for using copyrighted material, ie. the music from the Matrix, and a brief look at digg suggests this idea has some currency. However, go on to YouTube right now and search for Dvinsk Clan-Le Parkour (a pair of Lithuanian free-runners – and very good they are too). Click on their video. Recognise the music? Yup. Same as on Nick Gisburne’s video. Except the Dvinsk Clan video is still there (after over 600,000 views). Make no mistake as to why Gisburne was banned. It’s got nothing to do with copyright.

It has nothing to do with music, go see for yourself how many thousands of videos are using copyrighted music on YouTube.

It has to do with the fact that Islam is untouchable. You can talk about any religion but Islam. Why? Think Danish Cartoons of Muhammed for a clue.

4. andreas - February 13, 2007

what a shame. he was one of the most polite persons on youtube and never did anything like hatespeech. way too smart for islamistic fundamentalists i guess…

i’m so angry that i can’t even write in proper english!!!

5. J. Keaty - February 13, 2007

this was an intentional attack coming from christians using Nick’s use of copyrighted material, and a set of videos that trash a christian that is a fundamentalist (aka glennreb’s videos). The jackass that orchestrated the coup was firefly515 on youtube, his name is therealfirefly515 on Livevideo.

Brett Keane (not necessarily a friend of Nick’s,) has called for an atheist Jihad on the Christians on Youtube,

Nick,

Take them to court. You’ve done NOTHING wrong. Nothing. I just don’t get it.

I support Nick 100%. Youtube was way out of line, they did this because of “inappropriate content”, and then just lied and said that they did it because of copyright. They are going to have a big problem on their hands in a little while (I hope they will reinstate him.)

Go to http://www.gisburne.com and download his videos off of his personal website, then upload them onto YouTube. Let’s flood YouTube with his videos.

Thats a lie, just go to youtube and you will see all kinds of anti islam material talking about islam is hate, jihadist and anti female and words of muslim apostates attacking islam. Go see for yourself. Youtube is a haven for islam bashing. I think he did something, anyways the Quran translation is a neocon one, its not even a real translation. he is stupid.

12. Alex Virtanen - July 2, 2007

YouTube is afraid of Islamic response. This is the way it is after Jylland Post case.
this has nothing to do with copyrighted material or anything else.

Fear. That’s it.

NICK BLOODY LIER..
NICK has DELIBERATELY misquoted and mistranslated the Quran and thats why he was BANNED.

Response by a young Muslim to his blatant accusation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHu4Hwq4g94

Read the Quran in context n COMPARE the translation with NICK translation. Quoting does’t mean that he is speaking the truth u have to check whether what the quotation he is giving is correct or not. SO AGAIN I URGE EVERBODY TO COMPARE NICK QUOTATIONS WITH THE TRANSALTION OF THE QURAN AND U WILL CONCLUDE THAT WHAT A BLOODY LIER NICK IS..

Atheist MATHERCHOD, DALLAY SALAY.

The shit that happens involving peoples rights due to religon really start to get annoying… how many hundreds of other videos should be banned from youtube due to copyright material? More than I care to count. I think people just need to stop whining and complaining about stuff that offends them. Others have oppinions too and if it’s not yours then oh well. Deal with it fool.

15. sea_cucumber - July 31, 2008

So what if half of the stuff quoted is out of context, mistranslated or misquoted? The point is, religion hails from an era of blatant aggression and intolerance, and those same roots can be seen today in the words of the bible and the Qur’an, as well as in the actions abd beliefs of those books’ adherents. Honestly, i have no more beef with Islam than i do with Christianity, or Judaism. All are religions of intolerance. More attention needs to be called to this issue, albeit in a more rational way than Nick’s.

I’ve read all three of the major translations of the Koran and they all say to “kill” the nonMoslem, and that all nonbelievers in Islam will go to hell and suffer for ever.

However, the christian bible says exactly the same thing. Wanna see for yourself? Go to http://www.evilbible.com/murder.htm

All religions are evil (an adjective) and should be removed from this planet. Religion has caused the earth to be 2000 years behind in progress. We could have terraformed Mars for inhabitation by now if now for religion. Religion is just a belief in magic and we all know that magic does not exist. Right? Right?

I thank the religious though for their outrageous, silly, hateful, murderous claims, because it proves a god doesn’t exist, and motivates many to grow up and not “believe” in a silly sky fairy.

Very interesting post – thankyou – also some interesting comments.

After reading this and watching the vid clip, I went and found and downloaded and watched/listened to:
the original “Islamic Teachings – Cruelty From The Qu’ran.flv”
and the “Islamic Teachings – Cruelty From The Qu’ran (reloaded).flv”
and the “Christian Teachings – New Testament Cruelty (reloaded).flv”

I could not find the original of the latter.
In my view the Matrix(?) music backing of the original sounds better than the “reloaded” backing.

Both the Islamic and Christian vids are good though, as they show the inherent violence in the scriptures of each religion. I have never liked the excessive violence of the Old and New Testaments, but the Qu’ran is indeed absolutely sickeningly laden with violence – which I already knew from my readings of that book.

19. Alok - February 20, 2009

I gonna do one about Christianity next.. just to be fair..

20. Voice of Reason - February 21, 2009

Don’t Worry Nick,

Allah will take care of those evil doers who deny the evil of Islam. So it was written.

21. Christopher - April 16, 2009

Both the Bible and the Koran condone violence and hate. I don’t see anything wrong with what Nick did.
What he said needs to be said over and over again, louder, and louder, about the evils not just of Islam but also of Christianity and Judaism.
